High-Salinity Chemical Wastewater

A process-led approach to your wastewater treatment challenge.

1. Treatment Challenges in High-Salinity Wastewater

High-salinity chemical wastewater may contain elevated dissolved salts, complex organics and aggressive chemical constituents. Salinity can affect biological activity, equipment corrosion and downstream concentration or reuse processes.

High TDS & Ionic Composition: Total dissolved solids and individual ion concentrations influence process and material selection.

Corrosion & Scaling: Chlorides, sulfates, hardness and other constituents may create corrosion or scaling risks.

Biological Treatment Limitations: Conventional biological treatment may be unsuitable without appropriate adaptation or pretreatment.

Concentrate & Residual Management: Water reuse and zero-liquid-discharge projects may require specialized concentration and crystallization systems.

2. Treatment Process & Equipment Solutions

Equipment Support for High-Salinity Wastewater Pretreatment & Sludge Handling

High-salinity wastewater requires a process tailored to its salt composition, organic loading and discharge or reuse objectives. Specialized membrane, evaporation and crystallization processes may be required and are not automatically included in the ODMS standard equipment scope.

ODMS Equipment Across the Process

Transfer & Separation: Pumps, rotary drum microscreen filters and DAF systems where fluid characteristics and process requirements permit.

Chemical Treatment: Chemical dosing systems and sludge scrapers for applicable precipitation and sedimentation processes.

Biological Treatment: Magnetic levitation turbo blowers, disc diffusers, tube diffusers, TPU aeration hoses, submersible mixers and flow propellers only after verifying salinity and material compatibility.

Sludge Dewatering: Multi-disc screw presses, decanter centrifuges and polymer preparation and dosing systems, subject to sludge suitability.

Reference Process Flow

Wastewater Segregation → Equalization / pH Adjustment → Chemical Pretreatment / Precipitation → Solids Separation → Biological Treatment (Only If Suitable) → Desalination / Concentration (If Required) → Discharge / Reuse / Residual Management

Separate Sludge Line: Chemical Sludge → Conditioning → Dewatering

3. Engineered for Salinity & Material Compatibility

Water Chemistry Review: Assess TDS, chloride, sulfate, hardness, pH, temperature and organic loading.

Corrosion & Scaling Assessment: Review wetted materials, chemical compatibility and potential scaling conditions.

Aeration Applicability Review: Evaluate whether biological treatment is suitable before selecting blowers, diffusers and mixers.

Process Interface Coordination: Match applicable equipment with upstream chemical treatment and downstream desalination or residual management systems.

4. Reliability Is Engineered — Not Assumed.

Reliable Configuration: Evaluate material suitability, operating limits and equipment compatibility with the specified salt composition.

Precision Engineering: Review process interfaces, piping, electrical requirements and maintenance access.

Rigorous Delivery Verification: Conduct applicable equipment inspections and functional checks according to agreed specifications.

5. Get Equipment Recommendations for Your High-Salinity Wastewater Project

Share your wastewater flow, TDS, ionic composition, COD, pH, temperature, treatment objectives and process flow diagram. ODMS can assess material compatibility and equipment applicability for the relevant treatment stages.
